Latest additions to the Crossrail development team

Cross London Rail Links Ltd (CLRL), the company leading the Crossrail project to build a new rail line across London, from Maidenhead to Shenfield and Abbey Wood, has announced two further appointments of consultants for development work.

Mott MacDonald and Halcrow have been appointed as multi-disciplinary consultants for the scheme.

CLRL Executive Chairman, Douglas Oakervee OBE, said: ‘These appointments represent a further major step forward in the co-ordinated plan to deliver Crossrail, and unlock the wide range of benefits it will provide.

‘After a rigorous and competitive procurement process, we have appointed first class and highly experienced teams of consultants. The challenges before us are significant but I believe that together we are building a team that is skilled and motivated to deliver.’

These consultants will join Crossrail’s existing development team which is led by Bechtel and already includes Scott Wilson Railways, and Taylor Woodrow.

The development team will be co-located at Crossrail’s offices in Victoria and be responsible for preparing an affordable reference design for the project, which will form the basis for construction, possible once the Crossrail Bill has received royal assent and become an Act.

The updated development team is:

Development Manager - Bechtel

MDC 1 - Surface West and North East - Scott Wilson Railways
MDC 3 – Central Tunnels and Station East - Mott MacDonald
MDC 4 – South East Branch - Halcrow
Systems and Rolling Stock Consultant - Mott MacDonald
Enabling Works Managing Agent - Taylor Woodrow

The successful bidders for additional work contracts (MDC 2 – Central Tunnels & Stations West, and two contracts for Quantity Surveyors ) will be appointed in due course.
