Since the deposit of the Crossrail Bill in February 2005, a number of changes to the project have been identified as a result of discussions with stakeholders and continued project development.
Such changes to the project are made by publishing 'Amendment of Provisions' and in some cases require further environmental assessment work to be carried out and published.
An Amendment of Provisions Environmental Statement (4) is now available and contains details on revised proposals for the construction of works and acquisition of lands in the London Boroughs of Newham and Greenwich for the provision of a station at Woolwich and the realignment of running tunnels and associated works between North Woolwich and Plumstead.
The Amendments to the Bill deposited in the Private Bill Office of the Houses of Parliament can be seen right (as a download).
A Non-technical summary in non-technical language is also available.
These documents can be found on the Crossrail Bill Supporting Documents site, accessed from a button on the left hand side of the Crossrail main home page or by clicking on the link http://billdocuments.crossrail.co.uk/
As with the Bill, those directly affected by the proposals in the amendment of provisions have the opportunity to petition against them.
Parliament has set a four week petitioning period ending on Tuesday 12 June, in which those affected should submit their petitions to the Private Bill Office in the House of Commons. The Office can be contacted on 020 7219 3250.
A fourth Supplementary Environmental Statement (SES4) is now available and contains details of the assessment of revised arrangements for cofferdams in connection with the construction of a station at Isle of Dogs adjacent to Canary Wharf.
Anyone may comment on SES4 or the Amendment of Provisions Environmental Statement (whether or not they wish to petition Parliament formally).
Comments should be sent to the Secretary of State c/o Tim Neate, Consultation Manager, Department for Transport, Major Projects Division 3, Zone 2/19, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR (e-mail: crossrail@dft.gsi.gov.uk) on or before 27 June 2007. Comments will be presented to Parliament and published.
The Crossrail Bill is now being considered by a Select Committee of the House of Commons which will consider petitions against the Bill. It began its first session in January, 2006.
