Amendment of Provisions published

Crossrail has published an Amendment of Provisions.

Since the deposit of the Crossrail Bill in February 2005, a number of changes to the project have been identified as a result of discussions with stakeholders and continued project development.

Such changes to the project are made by publishing 'Amendment of Provisions' and in some cases require further environmental assessment work to be carried out and published.

An Amendment of Provisions Environmental Statement is now available and contains details on Paddington Station, Shorts Gardens (Camden), Whitechapel Station, Basin Approach (Lowell Street Shaft), Bellmouth Passage (West India Docks South), Billingsgate Market, Swallowfield Way (Hillingdon), Blyth Road (Hillingdon), Crow Lane (Havering), Blackwall Way and Limmo Peninsula (use of the river Lea for Barge loading and Holding areas) and Manor Wharf (Bexley).

Other non-works amendments to the Bill are also proposed.

A Non-technical summary in non-technical language is also available.

These documents can be found on the Crossrail Bill Supporting Documents site, accessed from a button on the left hand side of the Crossrail main home page or by clicking on the link http://billdocuments.crossrail.co.uk/

As with the Bill, those affected by the proposals in the amendment of provisions have the opportunity to petition against them.

Parliament has set a four week petitioning period ending on Tuesday 14 February 2006, in which those affected should submit their petitions to the Private Bill Office in the House of Commons. The Office can be contacted on 020 7219 3250.

A second Supplementary Environmental Statement (SES2) is now available in printed format. It has been posted on Cross London Rail Links’ website at www.crossrail.co.uk since December 2005.

SES2 contains details on utilities diversions and additional information on western route section railway possessions; badgers; Maidenhead railway bridge (scaffolding); 4-18 Bishop’s Bridge Road; grout shafts at Charing Cross Road; Smithfield Market loading bays; lorry movements at Whitechapel Station; Romford Depot (noise barriers); Shenfield Station (railway possessions); and Manor Wharf (dredging).

Anyone may comment on SES2 or the Amendment of Provisions Environmental Statement (whether or not they wish to petition Parliament formally).

Comments should be sent to the Secretary of State c/o Tim Neate, Consultation Manager, Department for Transport, Major Projects Division 3, Zone 2/08, 76 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DR (e-mail: crossrail@dft.gsi.gov.uk) on or before 2 March 2006. Comments will be presented to Parliament and published.

From 24 January they meet in Committee Room 5 in the Palace of Westminster.
